TAP
Description: The Tap curriculum prepares students for the many styles of tap dance, from Broadway style "hoofing" to the subleties of jazz-tap rhythms. Classes include rhythm drills, barre and centre work to develop technique, across the floor progressions to emphasize and connect sound patterns, and the development of routines for performance qualities.
Levels: There are four separate age categories for tap: Pre-Tap is for Kindergarteners and is listed on the Pre-School section of this website. Elementary for grades 1-4, Junior for grades 4-8 and Senior for teens and adults. Beginning classes are Level 1 and progress to the most advanced at Level 5. New students with previous training are asked to attend the placement class in August. To become part of the Soul-2-Soles Tap Company students must attend auditions in August.
Elementary Tap
Attire: black bikers worn over fuschia leotard with white socks and black tap shoes for girls; black shorts with royal blue dance t-shirt and black tap shoes for boys.
