Dancenter North alum, Marideth Wanat, is featured in Dance Magazine's January 2009 issue. She is shown as one of the Top 25 Dancers to Watch in 2009!
Marideth Wanat, originally from Harrisburg, PA, received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Spanish from Illinois State University, where she was a member and featured performer of the Illinois State Dance Theatre, directed by Laurie Merriman. She began her professional career dancing for Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago’s Giordano II company. After two seasons as a Giordano II, Marideth continued her career by performing in Thodos Dance Chicago’s “New Dances”. Soon after, she accepted a performing apprentice position with Inaside Chicago Dance for one season. In addition to her company experience, Ms. Wanat has also performed professionally in Dancenter North’s production of the “Nutcracker” and “Cinderella”. She has expressed her passion off the stage as well by teaching jazz and ballet throughout the Chicagoland area. Marideth is a founding company member and Rehearsal Director of LehrerDance, and is proud to be spreading the innovative style of LehrerDance to audiences and students around the world.

Amy Brandt was born in Libertyville, Illinois, where she recieved her initial dance training at Dancenter North. She continued her studies on full scholarship at the Milwaukee Ballet School. She was invited to join the Milwaukee Ballet, where she performed soloist roles in ballets such as Swan Lake, Cinderella, The Four Temperaments, and Alonzo King's MAP. In 2003 she joined the Suzanne Farrell Ballet, a national touring company in Washington DC. In 2005 she had the opportunity to perform for President Bush at the Kennedy Center Honors. Amy toured Scotland for the 2006 Edinburgh International Festival. She also free lances with several companies in New York City. Amy has been our visiting "Sugar Plum Fairy" in "The Magic of the Nutcracker" since 2005.

James Kopecky grew up taking classes at Dancenter North. He developed a strong background in ballet, jazz, tap and musical theatre. James studied on full scholarship at Julliard and is currently a dance student on full scholarship at Butler University. From a May 24, 2008 review in the Chicago Tribune regarding his wonderful tapping capabilities was this quote.... the group from Cartier Collective featured "James Kopecky, whose tap solos sizzle with edgy form and power." |

Kevin Horton keeps busy with Riverdance. He continues dancing with the company and has also spent time as a company production assistant. Kevin has appeared as a guest on the popular television series: "Dancing with the Stars!" |

Congratulations goes to recent Dancenter North graduate, Garrett Glassman! Garrett was accepted on full scholarship to Butler University in Indiana. Besides enjoying his dance education at Dancenter North, Garrett has trained at the following programs: American Ballet Theatre on Scholarship, Houston Ballet on Full Scholarship and Julliard on Full Scholarship! |

Patrick Trigg received a Distinction Scholarship for Academics from Indiana University. Patrick will continue his dance studies while at Indiana University!
Katie Martin our 2006 Snow Queen ...after studying at Boston Ballet summer 2007 Katie was honored with an offer to audition for the Boston Ballet Company. Katie was accepted into Boston Ballet as an apprentice. |

Courtney Brene' Corbin, former DCN student and performer, graduated in May 2004 from Ailey/Fordham BFA Program in Dance and is inAlvin Ailey first company after being in Alvin Ailey II for just 1 year. Courtney also filmed a pilot for Nickelodeon and appeared in Harper's Bazaar/Japan as a model. She has appeared as a guest artist in the popular television series: "Dancing with the Stars!" Alvin Ailey often visits Chicago, so be sure to catch their performances.
