Performing Opportunities at Dancenter North
Défilé is our annual presentation of all students from pre-school through junior high. It is a concert-graduation that allows our students to show their proficiency and be recognized for their achievements over the year.
Dancenter North is proud of our unique Défilé. It is presented in a relaxed and organized atmosphere that is pleasant for performer and audience alike. There are no long rehearsals and each performance lasts no longer than an hour and a half.
Participation in Défilé is optional. Students wear their basic class uniform with minimal accessories to avoid excessive costume fees and to focus more on their development of technique and preparation for stage performance.

Summer Show of Shows is presented at the end of our Summer Session and is a presentation of our students from all of our special summer workshops.

has become the goal of many young singers and dancers. Performance Practice students are part of the cast of "The Magic of the Nutcracker" as well as many other productions. Students selected for this program will have achieved the level of technique necessary, take the required number of classes at Dancenter North and commit to a dedicated schedule throughout the year.

"The Magic of the Nutcracker" in our 19th season we have been performing at Libertyville High School's Butler Auditorium since 1989 and at the beautifully renovated Genesee Theatre in Waukegan since 2005.
The Dancenter North Singers are part of our Vocal Program. They are a highlight of our "Magic of the Nutcracker " performances. The Dancenter North Singers also perform at local area festivals in Lake County.

Dancenter North's award-winning tap group perform throughout the Chicago area. The junior and senior companies work throughout the year with director, Julie Cartier. Selected as the winner of the Chicago Tap Off in 2002, with repeated scholarship recipients in subsequent years, and frequent appearances in the illustrious Chicago Human Rhythm Project make this group of tappers particularly sought after.
